Wellness and Stress Management Coaching

Jennifer offers life coaching and  stress management coaching for people struggling with time management, stress management, food/weight issues, starting an exercise program, coping with chronic illness, anxiety, depression, or general dissatisfaction with life who want to make lasting lifestyle changes to improve their overall health, well-being, and life satisfaction.  Together we’ll do an assessment of your overall satisfaction in the 7 dimensions of wellness: Social, Emotional, Spiritual, Physical, Environmental, Occupational, and Intellectual, and we’ll develop an individualized wellness plan to help you to create lasting lifestyle changes. We’ll identify what typically keeps you from sticking with a plan, and I’ll help you work through what keeps you from reaching your goals. I’ll provide the support, encouragement, and accountability that you need to create lasting changes.  If you’ve tried to make changes on your own and keep ending up at the same place that you started, then perhaps it’s time to try working with a coach!

Cost: $90 per session

Jennifer also offers  intensive coaching experiences in Wilmington, NC or at your home or corporate location to assist you with moving quickly toward your goals. Fees vary according to your location and duration of service contract. Contact Jennifer for further details.

Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy

Jennifer offers mindfulness-based psychotherapy for persons struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, food/weight issues, ADD/ADHD, coping with chronic illness, grief/loss, and PTSD. Mindfulness-based counseling is an integration of mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy that teaches mindfulness skills, such as breath awareness, mindful eating, and other methods for regulating the attention and emotions. It teaches skills for awareness of the present moment without judgment. Learning to practice radical acceptance of whatever is happening in our lives can result in decreased suffering, increased inner peace, and a greater sense of resiliency to deal with whatever life presents.

I am currently accepting new clients. I am a Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina provider, so they will reimburse a percentage of my fees to their subscribers. For all other insurance companies, I am considered an out of network provider, so check with your provider regarding their rate of reimbursement for out of network providers. For self-pay clients, I do have some sliding scale slots available.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Jennifer teaches 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) classes in Wilmington, NC for individuals and corporations, and she offers a 5-day intensive MBSR retreat for corporations. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is a course that teaches meditation and gentle yoga to cultivate awareness and reduce stress. It was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the Stress Reduction Clinic at University of Massachusetts Medical Center. The program was created on the foundation of the ancient practice of mindfulness, which encourages being fully present in each moment without judgement. When we approach living from this place of being awake and aware, we cultivate a sense of well-being. This approach may be helpful for people who are coping with chronic illness and medical conditions, anxiety, depression, GI disturbances, and stress from daily life. It is a practice that is useful for stress reduction, a greater sense of well-being, and enhanced creativity. Research indicates that people who participate in an MBSR course report an increased capacity to relax, increased self-esteem, greater energy and enthusiasm for life, improved ability to cope more effectively with stressful situations, reduced pain levels and/or improved ability to cope with pain that may not go away. The course is a compliment to, not a replacement for, medical treatment. For additional information on the course, click here.

Individual instruction and coaching in mindful writing is available by email, phone, or Skype to students internationally. Assignments are provided by email. Students submit writing by email and receive feedback from Jennifer. The process can be centered around either developing your writing craft or focusing on a deeper self-inquiry and personal/spiritual growth, depending upon what you prefer and need.
